Brief Overview of Subcritical Extraction Technology

  • Subcritical extraction can extract valuable oils, essential oils, active proteins, plant pigments, Chinese herbal medicines and spices at low temperature.
  • Low-temperature subcritical extraction utilizes compressed liquefied gases such as propane, butane, mixed gases of propane and butane, and mixed gases of other hydrocarbons as extraction solvents for oil extraction and can complete extraction and desolvation of materials at room temperature. The heat-sensitive components in oil and meal will not be thermally denatured. The quality-preserving extraction and separation of proteins, pigments, medicinal materials and volatile essential oils can be achieved. It is also energy-saving. Compared with traditional n-hexane extraction, thermal energy can be saved by 70%.

Production Scope

Our Process:

  • Extraction method: countercurrent extraction; extraction at room temperature, desolvation at low temperature (below 40°C).
  • The extracted meal can be decompressed to remove a large amount of solvent, and then use a small amount of heat to remove the residual solvent. The evaporation and stripping of the mixed oil are also performed by low-temperature heating or room temperature decompression. The solvent in oil extraction, mixed oil and wet meal can be removed at a lower temperature, so the crude oil obtained has a light color, low acid value, low phospholipid content and a high oil refining yield. Similarly, the soap stock obtained by refining has a high phospholipid content and good quality.
  • Low temperature extraction is suitable for the following materials: Precious vegetable oils: wheat germ oil, grape seed oil, peony seed oil, safflower seed oil, cocoa butter, etc. Plant essential oils: rose, rosemary, pepper, etc. Plant pigments: capsicum pigment, marigold lutein, etc. Plant protein: defatted peanut protein powder, defatted soy protein powder, defatted walnut protein powder, etc.
